Marionette Lines

Marionette Line

Deep, noticeable marionette lines can cause cosmetic problems for both men and women. Marionette lines essentially give a person a permanent frown and can also make them look older than they are. The good news is that there are ways to effectively soften these lines or prevent them from appearing in the first place, starting with a consultation with our expert cosmetic practitioners.

How to Treat – Alone or in Combination

Botox or Dysport

Neuromodulator injections such as Botox or Dysport are used for both cosmetic and medical reasons, although it is more likely known for its aesthetic uses in preventing and softening wrinkles, and signs of aging in the upper face. While Botox® or Dysport alone is not likely to be a suitable treatment for marionette lines, some studies have shown that a combination of Botox or Dysport and other injectables (hyaluronic acid and synthetic deoxycholic acid fillers) can work as a safe, effective treatment and less-invasive alternative to cosmetic surgical procedures.

Dermal Filler Injection

By the method of injection, injectable dermal fillers like Restylane®, Radiesse®, or Juvederm® can plump up skin in areas that have experienced a loss of volume. As a result, wrinkles are reduced or eliminated, paving the way for smoother and younger looking skin.

Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has been shown to have numerous growth factors that enhance the body's own response in collagen production. PRP therapy involves collecting a patient's own blood and spinning it down into a concentrate of plasma that has a high platelet concentration. This is then injected back into the candidate's marionette line area to initiate collagen stimulation. Given that the material that is injected into skin is obtained from the patient, the risk of reaction is close to none.

  • Anesthesia:ice, vibration
  • Pain level:none to mild
  • Recovery time:less than 1 day
  • Results:within 3-4 weeks

Microneedling

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy (CIT) and skin needling, is a noninvasive procedure that stimulates new collagen production. Using microneedles, tiny punctures induce collagen and elastin production, resulting in more youthful appearing skin. The release of these properties aid in repairing the texture and resiliency of the skin. Microneedling addresses minor skin concerns such as skin laxity, fine lines, wrinkles, acne scarring, stretch marks, and skin discolorations.

  • Anesthesia:topical numbing cream

Chemical Peels

A chemical peel is a skin resurfacing technique to improve the appearance of the skin and is suitable for superficial fine lines. A solution is applied to the skin which causes it to exfoliate and "peel off". There are many chemical peels available that range from superficial to deep. The choice depends on the desired depth of penetration, treatment effect, and recovery time. Typically, the deeper the peel, the greater the results, but they are also associated with greater recovery period and adverse effects. Contact our experts at Nexx and find out if chemical peel treatments are right for you.
